Couch to 25K, June 2020 - P.M.

The intention had been to go for a walk, try out a new little compact camera, and experience some spaces - usually thronged with people - in what would likely be the least populated version of themselves. It was a stunning day and turned into a 25KM stroll.

With the majority of indoor spaces closed to entry, it was a largely unsettling arms-length encounter with various spaces, whilst I got closer to other places than I would have imagined at the start of the day.

Enveloping London Underground ventilation shafts and fire escapes are structures ranging from an Eduardo Paolozzi sculpture in Pimlico, Brutalism at Vauxhall and Neo-Classical in style for Gibson Square in Islington.

Neiheiser Argyros architects’ addition to the typology at North Greenwich is one of the prettiest I have seen, with a lightness of touch and form, if somewhat crowded out unfortunately by the surrounding cacophony of structures.

'33' - Design District Viewing Pavilion_ Studio Weave

The buildings of the North Greenwich Design District were continuing to take shape.

Unfortunately, the playful Studio Weave designed viewing platform for the site was closed above the ground floor.

It proved a useful reminder to a photographer to always look up.
