How to use 3D tours, virtual walkthroughs and 360° photography -
Art Galleries, Performing Arts Venues, Cultural and Event Spaces, and Visitor Attractions:

During enforced closures, lockdowns and travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Virtual / 3D Tours and walkthroughs have provided, in small part, an ability for people to continue to engage with visual and performing arts spaces.

As organisations open their doors again, the limitless uses and applications for these immersive models open up their horizons.

Limited only by our imagination, here are some potential uses:
  • Archiving exhibitions for future uses, and sharing exhibitions and engagement further afield and internationally.

  • Access and wayfinding information: demonstrate accessibility to wheelchair users and those with other mobility issues. Engage users before their visit with wayfinding, circulation routes and social distancing and public health measures.

  • Share spaces with exhibition and set designers, artists, contractors and other creative collaborators - especially useful for site-specific work.

  • Give teams the opportunity to experience your space by giving them access to the 3D model and accompany it with your technical specifications.

  • Front of House/Back of House: allow your visitors to take a tour and check seating arrangements or views, food and beverage offers and retail spaces before visiting/booking.

  • Promote rental spaces and facilities that are for hire or available to 3rd party organisations.

  • Attract event planners to engage with the for-hire space whilst off-site, and at an early stage in their project.

  • Link 3D models of exhibitions to online commercial activities and retail opportunities.

  • Use the model as a key Health & Safety tool for emergency planning and response - enabling users to understand critical safety infrastructure and safe evacuation routes.
