BBC Broadcasting House _ Ramboll (Whitbybird): Ground Engineering
MacCormac Jamieson Prichard Architect / Sheppard Robson Architects
The BBC's W1 broadcasting complex consists of two linked buildings and a refurbished Broadcasting House.
The focus of the complex is an atria-lit newsroom at the base of the main building.
A Giken tubular piling system was used for the foundations to maximise the size of the new building's footprint.
All Souls Church stands just 2.5m from the excavation, and Victoria Line tunnels run directly beneath the site.
Throughout construction, Ramboll’s team monitored both ensuring that any movement was safely within predicted limits.
